Day 52 – Will the Shredding Ever End?

I thought I saw the light at the end of the shredding tunnel…
Turns out it was a train barreling toward me!

Yes, another day, another 2 bags of shredded documents.

I am happy to report that I have FINALLY finished with the document shredding and ridding my office space of un-needed, excess, in very good shape, office supplies.  Knowledge Arts Foundation (non-profit) will be very happy to get these supplies for their administration as well as the teachers they support. 🙂

I also found 50 3 1/2″ floppy disks that were never used…into the recycle they go – Does anyone even use those anymore???

Day 45 – Built-in Cabinets – Den

Time to start on the lower half of the den’s built-in.  This is the first cabinet

A semi-organized mess… wondering what is in those tubs anyway??

After:  (MUCH BETTER)

Well, the good thing is the stuff in the tubs was organized…the bad is they contained bills/documents/papers dating back to 1997!  YIKES!  I pulled out the paper shredder and had to be patient as I shredded a LOT of papers because the shredder kept getting over-heated.  😦  (that tells you just how much paper was in those darn tubs!)

Day 43 – Almost Done With The Bookshelves…

When ridding yourself of the clutter (aka belongings) do you ever feel a sense of anxiety ?  That has been the way I’ve been feeling during this “Book Purge” phase.  Not really sure why – I haven’t touched these books in YEARS!  Especially all the textbooks on the bottom of this particular bookshelf.  I to have to admit, though, once I have removed the books from the house, I feel so much better and at ease in my surroundings.

It’s about time I get rid of those textbooks…

This bookshelf isn’t completely finished.  I want to go through those photo albums, that actually have recipes I cut out in them and really decide if I want to keep them or toss the inserts and donate the binders.   Most likely the latter.

YES!  I have an empty bookself!  I am certain it will not remain empty – most likely will put family pictures there.  LOVE MY FAMILY!!

Day 41 – More Books…

Another day, another bookshelf cleaned off.  Not quite as many books to donate today as there were yesterday, but then, I already cleared out a good bit of the books that were in this section yesterday.  🙂

Day 40 – Getting Rid of Some Paper

Okay – I know, I didn’t post anything yesterday for Day 39…

I did go through the bottom part of my china cabinet yesterday.  I am proud to say that everything was in such good order that there wasn’t anything to get rid of, or re-organize.  Okay, I did find some cloth napkins that I re-located to the buffet drawer specifically for napkins, but that was it!  🙂  Feeling a sense of accomplishment (more like relief), I gave myself a “pass” on doing any more cleansing yesterday.  It was Friday, afterall.

With the dining room clutter magnets (buffet and china cabinet) done, I had to decide which room would be next – My den (who knows what is lerking in there!), my guest bath; the guest bedroom; the foyer; the hall closet, or the hall (you will see what I mean soon enough about the hall…)

I decided to tackle part of the den.  That isn’t to say I will continue to work on the den this weekend.  Now that I have started it, I am thinking maybe the guest bath would be the next best room to tackle, get out of the way rather quickly, and provide me with a sense of accomplishment. (It isn’t in as near as bad shape as the den…)  🙂

But, alas, I started on the bookshelves in the den today, so here is what I have accomplished in about an hour.

Sample of the books I am donating to the Houston Library

There are about 40 books in this picture.  As the morning progressed, and I continued to cleanse (purge), I found myself moving on to the next bookshelf.  I wanted to re-arrange pictures, so what the heck.  All told, I have 50+ books that are being donated to the local library today.  There is certain to be more as this project progresses. (Can you say charitable tax deduction?) 🙂

Post book-purge and picture re-arrangement

Ahhhh, 50#s lighter (at least!)

Of course, once I get all the other bookshelves (I have four more to go!) de-cluttered and dusted, I am sure I will be re-re-arranging the pictures with all the additional space I will have… or will I have additional space?  Stay tuned to find out!
