Well, around late August, early September, I fell off my “clutter free house” bandwagon. It didn’t seem like much of a problem at the time. The house (and all the storage spaces) were relatively uncluttered. I’m not sure what happened over the past couple of months, but, oh do I have a problem! My kitchen counter is full of stuff, my kitchen table is piled with old photos that I decided to go through and sort, now I need to find a place to store them, in some sort of order that I have them sorted. My dining room has become my sewing room. Needless to say there are little fabric and thread scraps all over the rug in there (I do try to pick them up ever couple of days), sewing maching on the table, notion boxes out (because the minute I put one away, I pull it back out looking for something)… I really need to get my “How to Conquor Clutter” book back out and re-read it, well, what I really need to do is get back on my de-clutter the house bandwagon, and work on these things a little bit every day. I know in no time, the house will be back to being clutter-free. 🙂
So I haven’t had a chance to write today. So I thought I would share this post from a fellow blogger who is also dealing with her “cleaning demons.
Real-Life Busy Wife
As I’ve mentioned before, my least favorite task is folding and putting away clean laundry. I’ve been really busy lately, focused on my diet, exercise, and studying – but I’ve managed to keep the house in good-enough-for-company shape…except (no surprise here) the master bedroom. Though I refuse to let the bed go unmade, piles of laundry, both clean and dirty, have formed. I blame my lack of a dryer for the dirty piles, because I haven’t had time to go to the Laundromat to dry towels…so I don’t want to wash them.
I need a spare hour and a half to tackle this…but with all my time and energy focused elsewhere, I don’t feel like I have that amount of time to devote to it.
This morning, pushed to my limit with the mess, I got the bright idea that maybe it doesn’t have to be 90 consecutive minutes. …

You say you don’t have a clutter problem? Here is a quiz to find out whether you do or not. It is set up in different sections so you can identify any specific area where there is a clutter issue in your life. So, you may not have a kitchen clutter problem, but your closets are a mess… or visa versa…
Are you a CLOTHES HORSE?
Do you have :
A closet full of clothes, but still have a problem deciding what to wear?
Do you keep clothes that don’t fit in the hopes that ONE DAY you will get back into them? (come on, fess up, we all do this…)
Are you related to Imelda Marcos (aka shoe fetish anyone?? and ones that date back to the 80’s or earlier??)
Do your shoes hurt your feet?
Collection of hats anyone?
Old RX eye glasses that you can’t wear anymore (ever hear of the Lion’s Club – Give those glasses a new home to someone in need!)
Jewelry that is spilling out of your jewelry box?
Old dried up, caked over disolved almost to dust makeup?
Enough cosmetics to suply the floor shows in Las Vegas?
I will fess up, at least at some point in my life, I would have answered these questions YES. Maybe not all at the same time, (ok, maybe a few at the same time)… But not since I cleansed my closet at the beginning of 2013! I am happy to say, it has stayed that way – I am staying away from the retail clothing stores, at least for now. 🙂
Stay tuned for more of The Clutter Quiz in the coming days!

Yesterday I tackled three dresser drawers that contained shorts of various type (running, dress, casual), and some t-shirts.
I bagged up about a dozen shorts for goodwill, along with three or four short summer skirts that I haven’t worn in years. The t-shirts were refolded and placed in one of the two drawers that I keep all my t-shirts in, with the intention of going through those today… but I ended up finishing a book I had started reading yesterday instead.
I did go through my “sock drawer” today, getting rid of just a few socks, but the drawer is re-arranged, all socks are paired and what I have in there I do use. I also have a drawer of hosery that really needs to be cleaned out… that will be my goal for tomorrow, along with the t-shirt drawers before I head off to the Notre Dame vs. Alabama game watch for the BCS National Championship.
GO IRISH! 🙂
Okay- So I got an early start on my 365 days of house “cleansing”… Yesterday I started going through my master bedroom closet and cleared all the junk – yes, junk – that I have been stepping over for the last few months. I will admit it – my closet looked like a hurricane hit it…several times.
I had a box full of Arbonne products sitting in a corner, that I rummage through every time I ran out of something. I had a basket full of Arbonne samples that I would use when traveling as well. Shoes, sandals, boots, etc. were not in their proper place. One positive – I NEVER threw/throw my clothes on the floor! I just don’t understand how someone does that. Dirty clothes go in the hamper – period. 🙂
Okay – so I got my floor cleaned, and shoes organized yesterday (I only got rid of one pair of sandals… I know – but I got rid of a lot of shoes a couple years ago and have been really good about not buying new ones until I really need them, and I have to throw a pair out to get a replacement).
Today, I started on going through my clothes. I actually found a jacket/skirt combo that I bought back in the early 90’s that still had its tag on! OMG! I was spending money on things I “thought” I just had to have, only for them to sit in my closet for 20 years!! Well, no more of that! No matter how “good” a buy it is! Thankfully, I no longer live near my friend who helped me create such a habit.
So now what? Well, I do have an Ebay account and so my plan is to put stuff on Ebay – for a minimum of 30 days to see if it will sell (yeah, I know – sort of like “repurposing”, huh)… Well not everything will go on Ebay first, most stuff will be sent off to Goodwill, or Joseph’s Coat (the church second hand shop). Some things, like the “vintage” outfit (see how I made that 20 year old outfit sound enticing!) will go on Ebay first. If it doesn’t sell – off to one of the donation centers it goes.
If I remember – I will post pictures (YIKES) of some of the stuff as I go…
